What I Do
Hunter’s Home is the online personal site of me, Alex Older.
I’m currently studying on the Web Design Degree at the University of the West of England. I’m a huge fan of the web and enjoy doing web design and developement.
I started the Web Developers Conference in my first year at University which has also helped me learn loads of new skills as well as.
Computer System Building/Upgrading/Repair
Everyone who wants to get online needs a way of doing it. With over 5 years of experience behind me I’m able to provide a complete solution that will fit your needs for today and tomorrow’s online expereince.
If you need a system that will handle your every day home needs such as checking emails, or working with Office tools or an extreme gaming machine I can advise you on everything you need and explain why it’s there.
Unlike systems from high street retailers you’re system will be set up how you want! No extra programs that will plague you to get the latest subscription from them or provide you with something that you’ll never use.

Web Design
Design is a huge part of what I do, for my list of clients and projects check out my design work. I feel it is important to make a good impression on the web so I try my hardest to stick to standards and not break too many design rules.
I do a lot of work with tools such as Dreamweaver and Photoshop making design layouts and converting them in to XHTML and CSS layouts. I aim to make designs work in the following browsers:
IE7, IE8 (currently in Beta), Firefox 2, Firefox 3, Opera and Safari on Windows and Mac OS X.
Web Development & Coding
Another important part of web sites is the back end. I try where possible to build on top of pre-made systems which helps avoid common security problems. I’ve built sites on top of Wordpress and other Content Management Systems.
Using these as a base gives me more time to focus on the additonal functionality of the site as well as the final front end design and although it is nice to have a system made just for you sometimes the cost can outway the final results so using something already there means plenty of support and addtional help should you need it.
Hosting
Everyone needs somewhere to host a web site. I provide some basic hosting for smaller sites and also consult on other hosting needs as a few 100MB’s of space here isn’t controlling your own server for your e-commerce site for example.

Customer Service Consultantancy
There is nothing worse than a large or small company with bad Customer Service it can turn current customers away and stop new ones from actually appearing. Are you missing that all important edge? Are your customers spending more time complaining than getting what they wanted in the first place?
