WDC Tomorrow

September 25th, 2007 / No Comments » / by Alex

It’s been in the works for months now and finally (hopefully!) all the hard work will pay off as the Web Developers Conference takes place at the Watershed, Bristol.

If you haven’t already head over to the offical site and make sure you know whats going on. It starts at 10am and is for invitees and Web Design Students only.

Also look out for event information for 2008 in the near future!

Back to XP

September 25th, 2007 / No Comments » / by Alex

After a fair number of months using Vista I’ve switched back to XP. I don’t know if it was the hard drive or the OS but programs would keep crashing. So to solve both problems I got a new 500GB Western Digital hard drive and reinstalled XP. So far so good. It’s good to be back, but I’m sure I’ll move over again in the future.

I got an iPod

September 19th, 2007 / No Comments » / by Alex

I’ve been a Creative guy for a while, my first MP3 player was a MuVo 64MB which I used until last December. This was replaced
by a Creative Zen V+ 1GB which was great, worked well and lasted up
until a week ago.

A week ago it stopped working, wouldn’t connect to my PC or list and music I had last put on to it. So I took it back and replaced it with an iPod Nano 2GB which was £10 cheaper than the price I paid for my Zen. So far the iPod hasn’t crashed, lost any music I’ve put on it and thankfully iTunes is nice enough to keep track on a few podcasts. I will however be keeping it to my Apple Laptop and not my main PC

This is because I believe Apple products work great with other Apple products and not with Microsoft products and I don’t want my PC filled with crap.

Bristol OpenCoffee IX

September 12th, 2007 / No Comments » / by Alex

Another OpenCoffee has passed this time hordes of geeks (about 10 or so) turned out to pay witness to Mark’s new sunglasses. It was also my turn to meet Andy from Team Rubber who will be attending the WDC in a couple of weeks.

The evening was spent catching up with new technologies such as the new iPod touch as well as OK Cool’s new Facebook app, the MusicWall. I also caught up with Dan Dixon who is the other half of the duo organising the conference.

It was good to see plenty of new faces and soon enough we’ll be able to take over the entire Watershed with our vast numbers!

21 Days Later…

and it’ll be the WDC almost everything is in place. My thanks goes to Dan Dixon from UWE who has helped me organise everything. The site needs the last couple of updates applying to it but the promotion of the event has already started through various blogs. Hopefully we can keep this up to the event and carry it on for 2008!

Posting on the Mac

To keep my geek level high I’ve sorted my Mac laptop out to include a dashboard widget so I can post using WordPressDash which is nice and quick instead of firing up my browser.

Bristol OpenCoffee 6

July 14th, 2007 / No Comments » / by Alex

I’m back after 2 weeks without proper Internet access and to start things off was Bristol Open Coffe 6 which was good. Was good to see 2 new faces in the shape of Sam and Dan expanding the numbers of OpenCoffee again, which is good just wish everyone would be there on the same evening.

Talks covering everything from Facebook (again!) right through to posting blog posts from your phone via MMS which is so good it may go somewhere, can’t wait for it to be mainstream and active all over the world, though the cost is pretty big if used all day every day.

Thanks to the Regs, Simon and John for showing up 6th OpenCoffee in
a row, hopefully more next time!

Confused on Global Warming?

Well I was until I came across this video on Break.com which I was linked to from a forum I regually post on:

Getting there…

Putting all the plans for the WDC in to action is hard work but it’s all coming together. Currently in the works are the bespoke designs which will front the Wordpress software, once complete the WDC will be full of information on the event as well as schedules and all the other bits.

I did loose 45mins of Photoshop work yesterday so I’m taking a quick breather from Photoshop for now. It should appear next week.
